 Planning Assistance

As its name implies, the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission has been charged by its constituent local governments with the responsibility of spear heading the provision of "planning services" particularly in instances where the subject matter or related problems to be addressed are best dealt with at the area-wide or regional level.

Planning related documents recently completed  include:

District Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy

18 County Water Study

2000 Census Summary

 Technical Assistance

Given the rural nature of the seven-county service jurisdiction, local elected officials and civic leaders often rely upon the Commission's professional staff to keep them abreast of new programs and/or state and federal regulations which directly affect their local operations.

Examples of "technical assistance" assignments recently completed by the Commission's professional staff on behalf of local governments and the region as a whole include:

Consultation regarding specific local needs

Guidance in local problem solving

Current Census Data for all 7 counties

Serves as a liaison between local government and state and federal funding agencies

Serves as a regional applicant for federal and state grant funds

CDAP Grants—Illinois DCEO

USDA Rural Development Grants, Direct Low Interest Loans and Loan Guarantees;

EDA Public Works, Technical Assistance and Economic Adjustment Grants;

OSLAD and LAWCON Park Grants from IDNR
